Paralegal – Casey Powell
Ms. Casey Powell joined the firm as an immigration paralegal in February 2017.
Casey obtained a MA Degree in Hispanic and Spanish Literature at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2012. There, she specialized in Colonial and Post-colonial Latin American studies, and was selected as a doctoral candidate in the same field. While she loves to research, she decided that she wanted to do more than university instruction soon after beginning the program.
Before joining the firm, Casey has served as ESOL Program Coordinator to the large immigrant population in her native Western Upstate New York and as Bilingual Community Liaison to underserved and underrepresented students and their families at a local elementary school with an equally large immigrant population. She worked at the Hispanic-serving institution of Community College of Denver, where she assisted similar populations, specifically high school students, with navigating the complex college enrollment process; these students included DACA and Spanish-speaking students. Casey is passionate about the histories and stories of immigrants to the US and cares very much about our clients and their legal matters.
Since a very young age, her passion for social justice has driven her to pursue all volunteerships, scholarships, and employment opportunities to date. She obtained her BA Degree in Hispanic and Germanic Studies from Nazareth College of Rochester and completed a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship to teach in Germany thereafter. She speaks English (native speaker), Spanish (native fluency), German (fluent), Portuguese (intermediate), Italian, French, and Swiss German (beginner). When she is not working as a Paralegal, she loves to hike, cook, dance, and relax with her husband, family and friends.
